Te Kauri Lodge

Last week we had an overnight camp at Te Kauri Lodge.  We had a fantastic time.
We hiked to a Cook Out site, and cooked our entire dinner on a fire.
We explored a stream and found living creatures within it.
We learnt the names of trees and how the forest is structured.
On the second day, we were able to visit 'Beryl's Eels'.  Many of the eels were huge. It was interesting observing them in their habitat.
Some of us were successful fishing for sprats off the Kawhia wharf, while the rest of the class dug for hot water in the sand at Te Puia Springs.
It was exciting for us sleeping the night in a dormitory, listening to camp stories and singing together late at night.
We were very lucky to share our first ever camp experience with 10 of our parents and 3 teachers.

  1. Hi Room 1,

It sounds like you had a great time at your camp.
Did all your clothes smell like smoke after your cook out?
I like watching eels, I have some in a creek by my house that I feed and they are fascinating!
Room 7 will come and look at your photos one day soon.
    Bye.
